Timing is everything – when the Germans were preparing for their attack on Russia. They were forced to put down a rebellion in southern Europe. Diverting men and materials, it put them behind schedule by about three weeks to a month. As the temperatures dropped below zero and the winds howled outside the gates of Moscow, those three weeks began to loom large. The Army was dressed in summer uniforms because the plan said that they wouldn’t need winter uniforms.

If Eisenhower had voted not to go on June 6^th, it would have meant at least a two-week delay until the moon and tides were right again. Unload all those men and march them back to camp. Feed them and find something for them to do for two weeks, while they waited. Meanwhile, trying to keep it all a secret.

The air drops of paratroopers were scattered all over creation. To the Americans it was a disaster. To the Germans, it appeared to be the largest airdrop in history. Reports were coming in of Parachutists dropping everywhere! Where do we go? What do we defend first? When they appear to be everywhere? You couldn’t have planned it like that. “Alright men listen up, tonight we’re gonna scatter you guys all over God’s creation in the middle of the night. In the hope, that it might puzzle the shit out of the Germans.”

A happy accident, unplanned brilliance. Little things mean a lot. A viral epidemic and the ham-handed handling of said same takes down a sitting President and would be tyrant. What would the world and the election have looked like without Covid-19? You know, the Hindenburg disaster was just nature’s way of saying, “That’s a real bad idea. I know it looks good. But I want you to trust me on this. See?”

Vladimir Putin has been on the road of territorial expansion for a long time. So why now, to precipitate a crisis? Had there have been a more supportive President or Tucker (TV dinner) Carlson, the war would be over by now. Twump tried to backstop Putin’s claims in the Crimea. And would certainly have approved of Russia’s noble defense of Plutocracy and the criminal Slave state. Against the aggression of the Imperialistic Democratic Ukrainians, seeking to take over the whole world.

So just what is making Putin feel froggy now and want to rattle the Sabre? He’s safe at home; it can’t be for domestic consumption. Maybe, he’s just trying to test NATO and gauge their response for next time. To see if he can make them flinch. Or maybe, he figures it’s time to stop fucking around and do the authoritarian dictator crushes innocent small country thing full time. Or maybe, he thinks that if he can achieve his political goals while throwing a crisis into laps of his adversaries, all the better!

Make a few calls and wake up the Manchurian Candidates sleeping over at Faux News. “Maybe you’d like to play a little solitaire?” Red Queen! Red Queen! Red Queen!

Let us take a Magical Mystery Tour of speculation. Let us suppose that 90% of everything we know about the Twump-Russia connection is true. Then, let us suppose that we don’t have the foggiest idea about the true connections. And that what is unknown about the affair, becomes huge when compared to what the things that are known point too!

It is a risky business to play in the street, lest you get caught unawares and run over. “Did you really think they invited you to Russia, pumped you with food and vodka, pimped you off with a prostitute and didn’t want anything in return? “You Republicans are just great guys! We just really like partying with you! You guys are so cool!”

Maria Valeryevna Butina was the Russian intelligence ingénue Putin used to infiltrate the National Rifle Association and the Republican Party. They fell like rubes in fresh from the country. In 2018, she was charged as acting as a foreign agent (Spy) After her conviction, she was traded back Moscow faster than Francis Gary Powers. She was elected to the Russian Duma by Vladimir Putin as a reward for her loyal service. “You are American man twice my age, and much older than my father. I find that attractive!”

The Republicans are in a tight spot, under no circumstances can they support Joe Biden or America’s standing in the world. But they can’t condemn Russia either, they are effectively silenced. Here’s where Putin hopes he gets a return on what he paid for.  A President, a war crisis, and a disloyal opposition. I would imagine that any effort to move US troops or supplies to Ukraine, will be met by sharp criticism by the Republicans and Conservative media. And I will leave it to you to ask why?

It has been the United States foreign policy to support democracies facing Authoritarian occupation since 1945. Be that for good or ill, it is the stated policy. There is an old expression, “If they’ll steal from momma’s purse, they’ll steal from daddy’s wallet.” If they are willing to try and overthrow their own democratic government, what makes you think they are gonna try and protect yours?

Putin had Twump all primed to pull all the troops out of Germany and withdraw from NATO. Damaging the confidence of our European allies. Those troops look mighty important today. Twump favoring yet another policy counter to the desires of everyone involved, except for Vladmir Putin. Today as we stand on the precipice of war in the Ukraine.  Vladmir Putin whispers, “Make a deal, the Republicans will never allow Joe Biden to support you militarily.”

The Russian are coming! The Russian are coming! And the Republicans are already here!
