It’s a master class in Trumpiness being taught and not to be missed. Don Jr. is see no evil and Erc, is hear no evil. Junior says, “Wha? Me? What did I do? Accounting? They’re down stairs; I think I was down there once. I don’t do numbers and stuff.” His brother Erc comes along and has the audacity to say, “I pour concrete” He’s a manly man. He’s a builder, but those little numbers do make all the difference, don’t they?
Both brothers work there at Trump Co. but know nothing about the goings on at the company. The brothers have become successful through hard work and genetics, but mainly through genetics. Working themselves up from Dad’s sons to Executive Vice Presidents. Why not a moment of candor here? Why not just plead ignorance? Everyone would just nod their heads and say to themselves, “Ah, tis probably true.”
Look, my brother and I are a couple of rich kids. Wastrels and ner do wells, who’ve never done an honest day’s work in our lives. I don’t know an I beam from an eyeball. Our school work was done largely by our tutors. I haven’t been to the office in over a month. It’s all a tax dodge. Our Dad is stuck with us and had to support us no matter what. So, he made us executive Vice Presidents in charge of staying out of trouble. We live for free in our Dad’s building, and we draw a paycheck. That’s what we do, that’s our job description.
During January 6th and after, it was revealed that Don Jr. had to go through Mark Meadows to speak to his own father on the phone. That says so much about the family dynamics, “Don’t let that little idiot bother me anymore!” The only child Daddy seems to pay attention to is creepily his daughter Ivanka. Don Jr. had to go through Mark Meadows for a phone call and Ivanka had her own office in the White House, but no favorites.
What does a lifetime of living in the shadow of Daddy’s little sunshine girl do to a Jr. or an Erc? Old Joe Stalin used to play his generals off against one another. Somebody is going to get a medal, and somebody is going to the gulag. Good child – bad child, with a couple of why can’t you be more like your sister comments, thrown in for good measure. Oh boy, Houston, do we have a problem.
Ivanka’s name was removed from the case on statute of limitations grounds. But was still requested to testify. Ivanka’s attorneys answered with dozens of reasons why she couldn’t testify. Improperly served subpoenas and prosecution errors. All this falderal to keep from taking the stand and they are finally going to go with it’s an “Undue Hardship.” We should delay the multi-million-dollar trial because it’s inconvenient to Ivanka’s schedule. That’s a school week!
And this being the 21st Century. Ivanka couldn’t possibly ask her husband to take a sick day. And he could be expected to get the kids off to school successfully on his own.
But who but a Trump would ask to delay a trial because it was inconvenient? Just playing the game by stringing it out as long as humanly possible. Ivanka’s testimony is peripheral anyway and only used as a garnish to show the family wide conspiracy.
There is a paper trail or a paperless trail of emails. Between accounting and Don Jr. and Erc involving property evaluations. Nearly everyone else involved in the case has either flipped or been convicted. And the Trump boys amble into the courtroom with “Duh, what?” That’s Trumpian! “Who me? Accounting? What’s that?”
Another one bites the dust as a Republican Congressman Ken Buck announced he wouldn’t seek reelection. Buck said the reason was the Republican Party itself. You’ve heard it all before with Adam Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, and others.
“Too many Republican leaders are lying to America, claiming that the 2020 election was stolen describing Jan 6th as an unguided tour of the Capitol and asserting that the ensuing prosecutions are a weaponization of our justice system.”
Buck continues, “These insidious narratives breed widespread cynicism and erode Americans’ confidence in the rule of law,”
And continues: “It is impossible for the Republican Party to confront our problems and offer a course correction for the future while being obsessively fixated on retribution and vengeance for contrived injustices of the past.”
It is common in a down year for a party member to pick up their winnings and go home. Better a retried congressman than a defeated one. Throwing in the towel because the Republican Party is beyond all hope of redemption. Whatever happened to the Whig Party? They disappeared and lost relevance with the voters.
It is all about Trump and living the lie. The poison pill inside the Republican party dividing it and dissolving it. A brain drain as the non-Trumpers drop out leaving only the patients to run the asylum. Narrowing the focus of the party towards the extreme and away from the center. Forgetting the first rule of American politics. Republicans run towards the center in Presidential elections (Remember? Compassionate Conservatives).
With Trump as their national nominee, the Republican Party is already hobbled. Americans made their final decision on Trump in 2020. Trump is less popular now than he was then, it’s doomsday for the Republican Party. How can Trump unite the country when he so badly divides his own Party?
It is like looking at a sick man and knowing the eventual outcome, as it is only a matter of time.
