It Goes Without Saying

By David Glenn Cox

He is risen and we are fallen! Enough with rituals and the rights of Spring. Snap back to Monday morning Fascism. Another day, another 2% down. I fear we shall discuss whether we are in recession or not, long after we are into a deep recession. Day by day and blow by blow knocking loose the chocks of stability. Until finally, they intersect and provoke one another.

Economists fear the sudden departure of a certain racial component of the workforce could cause production shortages hindering a growing economy from growing. New crazy memos from the desk of you know who means any oil tanker built in China docking in the United States. Must pay an additional fee of 5.2 million dollars, due to its port of birth.

Like charging Dominoes, a fee for bringing your pizza in a foreign car. But the fee is for us to pay to ourselves. Now to folks like you and I, we read stuff like this and cock our heads in wonder and amazement. But to the movers and shakers down on Wall Street these are the times which try men’s souls. These are the days which make their shorts bunch up and know everyone working at the liquor store on a first name basis. This is Jenga, but with cinder blocks a hundred feet tall.

The King’s bad policies and childish irascible antics set the table for the trouble compounded by their gross incompetence. Does anyone really think RFK jr. is doing the Administration any good? Did Kristy Noem really kill her dog or was it suicide? The tone and flavor of Fascism has a chilling effect on the environment. For many generations Vice Presidents were seen and not heard. Now, we fondly look back on those days and remember why. The illegitimate love child of Dan Quayle and Spiro T. Agnew. JD Vance, “You’ll Laugh! You’ll Cry! You’ll be amazed.

Like a where’s Waldo book for the intellectually challenged. Where will he appear next? Oh, magic mirror. Who is the fairest of them all? Those images of the midnight deportation flights, the cages and the shaved heads flashed around the world. Sending both messages, both intended and unintended. Telling the migrants to flee in fear. Telling them to get out while the getting is still good. Message received. But Wall Street investors around the world receive the same message. To flee! To get out while the getting out is still good.

It’s not just the Tariffs; it’s the tone and the arrow of time. If all things remain the same without any further shocks or damage. Will the situation repair itself or will it deteriorate further? Now, balance that knowledge with the knowledge that things will not remain the same, but will suffer future shocks of royal prerogative or flights of personal filigree. And so, we ask ourselves, are we headed for a recession? The arrow of time demands it.

You don’t get to bake chaos into a pie and then expect band concerts in the park. Negotiations in Ukraine failed. Negotiations in Gaza failed. Negotiations with Canada failed. Negotiations with the Vatican failed. The Japanese trade ambassador told his American counterpart, we will play along. But don’t try our patience. We’re not going to do this all day long.

A brain drain is expected as experts fear America’s best and brightest are about to become America’s most mobile. Moving on to Europe or Asia to pursue medicine, research and technology in a less worrisome and more stable atmosphere. Why invest in the US, if the best and brightest are probably going to leave anyway with innovation tucked under their arm. Government spending for research slashed. And the arrow of time only points one way, irrevocably.

Clear your mind and meditate for a moment and find a calm place inside and contemplate the dull and boring Presidency of Joseph R. Biden. And then test your math skills. It’s only been how long again? And we have how much longer to go again? Gee, I wonder if we’re headed for a recession?

Negotiations with the Iranians over their clandestine nuclear program are said by the Administration to be going well. But don’t all the Administration’s pronouncements always claim things are going well, right up until the moment they hopelessly break down. It’s almost as if they are trying to shade the truth from us or something. My grandma, what big teeth you have!

And now with the sad passing of the Pope. It appears even more so the Vice President of the United States forced himself on a dying man. It just speaks for itself. And shouts from the mountain top. We’re buying Greenland you know. And adopting Canada as our fifty-first state too! Whether they like it or not!

A recession? Why would there be a recession? Just because the King upset the temple like Jesus with his bullwhip. You automatically think there’ll be a recession.

They believe themselves to be correct in molding a new world and can’t imagine they are wrong. The mortar boards and philosophers have assured them this is all good and necessary to put the little people in their place, before it’s too late. Stay the course, don’t chicken out now! We’ve got the little people on the run, right where want them! Shh, we’ll tell them they’re tariffs and not taxes. And tariffs are good for the economy and taxes are bad! And they are sooo, dumb. Our Fox News Headlines tonight!

Are we headed for a recession? It goes without saying.

Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.” ― George Orwell
