The purpose of modern media as defined by George Orwell is not to inform, but to chloroform. To twist and bend events and shape them into an unseen and unspoken narrative. Republicans in Congress have held a series of hearings on Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities. Why? What will it change now? He’s gone! It’s about bullying and denigrating the opposition. Why didn’t we investigate Ronald Reagan’s dementia? His signing of documents without knowing or caring what he was signing? Because it wouldn’t change anything, once he’s gone.
What we have witnessed with the attack on Iran is a war crime! What we are witnessing in Gaza is a war crime! The media gush about the accuracy and military capability but leave off with the legality. Suppose through some serendipity, Iran managed a targeted strike on the White House. That would be perfectly legitimate under American behavior. The Japanese were in negotiations with the United States when they bombed Pearl Harbor. Just as the United States was in negotiations with Iran when our surrogate bombed Iran. Legal? Moral? Just? Don’t be ridiculous.
The crash of the Air India flight was big news, for a minute. The pilot was said to have called out an SOS. I wonder what he said? Both engines seemed to be functioning and there was no fire or smoke. Just engines which appeared to be losing power. The RAT is a wind turbine which self deploys when the aircraft is short on electrical power. Why was it deployed? Was the plane suffering an electrical failure like the 737 over Japan that lost power to its touch screens? Could it be another software glitch? They wouldn’t want to post any negative news about Boeing. News like that could upset the whole travel industry. I’m not saying it is. I’m saying the sudden silence speaks volumes.
The other day Space X’s Starship blew up. I mean it really blew the fuck up! It was news for an afternoon and then silence. Space X has had problems with their Soviet N-1 rocket from day one. Engines failures, fires, loss of control, loss of communications but this one tops them all! And no news is good news. Nothing to see here, move along! This failure was the granddaddy of them all. The program isn’t getting better, it’s getting worse. Four! Count Em! Four unsuccessful rockets in a row! And the media says nothing! No concern of ours. Private industry!
Kristi Noem was recently hospitalized with an allergic reaction. An allergic reaction to what, I wonder? Cat dander? New carpet smell? Ketamine, Fentanyl or Cocaine? John Belushi had an allergic reaction too! I’m not saying Ms. Noem had a drug overdose. I’m saying the silence about the issue would lead one to believe that they don’t want to discuss the details for some odd reason. Is she out of the hospital? Is she back at work? No news is good news!
Someone gets convicted or found not guilty of murder charges and that’s big news for weeks and weeks. But a cabinet officer has an allergic reaction or a billionaire’s rocket blows up and you get crickets. McDonald’s posted the worst same store sales in April, since Covid. All the chain restaurants are reporting poor sales. A Big Mac meal was almost $19.00 in Connecticut, but that’s not news! 7/11 and Quick Trip heard it though and are offering discount lunch meals to hungry Americans priced out of the expensive hamburger market. Not News!
The housing market is stalling, not news! Inflation for May was 1%. How much is that per year or Xs 12? Not News!
The Senate is working on Trump’s Big Beautiful Murder bill. Which without a doubt, is the most heinous and most reprehensible, vile piece of legislation EVER introduced in recorded human history! It will successfully KILL millions of Americans. It will destroy hospitals and clinics in small towns. It will add by their own admission as much as 15 Trillion dollars to the deficit! It is guaranteed to increase hunger and homelessness all across America. And all just to give tax breaks to the wealthy. The national media speak in euphemisms. Local media talk about the impact on local hospitals. This piece of shit bill would embarrass Adolph Hitler. And the media talk around it in circles without any serious discussion about the impact.
Two thirds of Americans disapprove of the bill and one third don’t know what is in it! Republicans and Democrats alike hate this bill. Guess what? They’re going to pass it anyway! And they would still pass it even if 95% of the public were against it. Because the people that they Actually work for, want it passed. Democrats complain of no leadership and no agenda, and many are calling for a third Party. Traditionally, the Democratic Party was the party of Small Capitalists and working people. Fuck you people! There’s no money there! They can’t compete in elections on your nickels and dimes. They need the wealthy to compete on an even plane. So, you get small promises with a little of this and a little of that.
The Party of States Rights is federalizing troops to guard buildings from an insurrection that wasn’t. The Extreme Court Inc. Not content with taking away a woman’s right to choose. Now takes away a parent’s right to choose medicines for their children. A Federal Court has just given oil companies the right to sue California over legislation passed and approved by the state legislature and signed into law by the governor. So, American oil companies are now free to take the will of the people to court.
Through arbitrary tariffs, the government now sets the price of a new car or an iPhone or a computer. Free market? What free market? ICE raids are ripping agribusiness, the hotel industry and the restaurant business asunder. The Great Dictator says, “Okay, we’re sorry. You guys can stay.” But it’s not so simple to just say ollie, ollie ocean free! These people are getting arrested when they show up for court! They aren’t going to believe them! I wouldn’t let my wife go to work, if I thought I might never see her again. They arrested a bunch of migrants at Home Depot recently. Arresting people looking for work! But do you think those arrests will help Home Depot’s business? I needed help and there are no workers here. I’ll check Lowe’s!
