From the Korea Times front page, lead story. “Korea Looks into possible Human rights Violations in ICE Raid” The next story was about the stalled trade talks in Washington. Next up; “Worker recounts details of human rights violations during detention in US raid.” Followed by Trump says he does not want to “frighten off” or ‘disincentivize’ foreign investments. I don’t know if you can read between the lines in Korean, but I feel a great anger. This was the front page. You should have seen the crossword puzzle.
Not since George Bush puked in his soup and passed out at the table has there been such a foreign debacle. Even Ronald Reagan falling asleep during a papal audience was nothing compared to this. An entire nation angry as hell. Just as we would be angry as hell if it were our people. The storm trooper ICE model didn’t work too well this time. Korea stood up for its people. It demanded they be released immediately. They demanded that they not be charged with a crime. I guess not all immigrants are created equal.
It was the Gestapo tactics which did them in. Handcuffing them hand and foot like hardened criminals at gunpoint. In a foreign country where you didn’t speak the language? It would be like “Midnight Express.” And it’s news in Japan. And news in Beijing and Taiwan too. “US Mistreats Asian People! Racism Suspected!” Headline News around the world.
The king in semi lucid moments issues a half heart Trump apology. “Yeah, yeah, sorry, sorry. Never happen again, but after all. It was really all your fault to begin with. Whatever, shake it off.” There’s only one thing left to do, and that’s change the subject. Let’s talk about Saint Charlie Kirk instead. When are the troops arriving in Utah? People being gunned down in public sounds like a job for the national guard! “Suspect Not Cooperating in Kirk Investigation.” Since when is the suspect supposed to cooperate? See? It’s not news, made into news. Like the headline, “DUI suspect passes out in Jail Cell!” or “Man grumbles while paying fine.”
Obsess on one and ignore the other. Use one story to bury the other. The American people will forget about it in about twenty minutes. No one in the media, left, right or center will say it. Holy fucking dog shit! Look what they’ve done now! This is like the exact opposite of a good job! Someone dumber than dirt obviously planned this mission out. They rented buses and scheduled officers and were very proud of themselves. But never in the back of their crooked little minds did it occur to them to ask somebody. Living without that little voice in your ear saying, “double check! Details are Important!” There might be some fallout. “Tee hee, tee, hee! I might even get promoted!”
The king won’t fire whoever is responsible because this administration never admits any mistakes. They come each in their turn like a revolver. Kristi Noem does something crazy today and 86 proof Pete Hegseth says something crazy tomorrow. Then RFK Jr. sings his version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
The largest group of stumbling, bumbling ex-Fox News employees ever assembled. The trade talks were going to take 90 days and now we’re rocking six months with no end in sight. The king was going to solve the war in Ukraine on the first day! The media just doesn’t mention his failures. How the dealmaker talked the EU into investing two hundred billion dollars in the US economy. While leaving out a mechanism to make it happen. The king sure outsmarted them!
The king fails NATO muster in Poland and not one media outlet will dare to call him a coward. All he had to do was issue a strong statement of support. Maybe he was too busy? Maybe he’s overwhelmed by a beautiful trance dance. The waltz of the time fairies of transcendental senile rapture or Roadrunner cartoons.
The king earns European raspberries for his lack of erection to the occasion. But it’s not news if it’s not reported! Charlie Kirk is news. Bigfoot sighted outside of a dollar store is news. Man Beheaded! Trump doing away with the tariff loophole on small packages looks to put a crimp in your online Xmas shopping. But just don’t talk about it. Say nothing for two weeks and people will forget all about it. Except for the people waiting on the packages, which will never arrive. Don’t blame the President! Just because he’s responsible.
Because of the tariffs and the high cost of new automobiles, the price of used cars are soaring. It is a self-indicator of difficult times ahead. The tariffs making new cars unaffordable puts used cars in higher demand in an inflationary spiral.
The hard part. The really difficult part is keeping your head up. A crisis of confidence worn down by the daily outrages. I saw a lie disguised as a news story. In it, the propagandist says, “Trump to chide European countries, not to buy Russian oil.” Trump is going to add sanctions! Trump threatens sanctions a lot. This administration has a lot ‘going to’ about it They’re going to do lots of great things. They just never seem to get around to it. Trump pulls up the rear, and it’s reported as he’s leading the way.
It’s hard to keep your confidence up day after day. It’s like watching them juggle with world affairs and just waiting for them to sort of drop something and break it like a chicken egg on the floor. In the age of sinister reform and making the rivers run backwards! Taxing the consumer economy in the form of tariffs to subsidize a tax cut for billionaires. Oh, what won’t go wrong there?
How do you smile when all around you madness reigns? You’ve got this presidential mass, this Jabba the Trump. And all around are these little droids who don’t have enough sense to wipe shit off their shoes trying to please him. And so, you get the fat Elvis syndrome. Nobody dares mention Weight Watchers in front of the king or to mention Betty Ford. They tell the king what the king wants to hear. The king is fed sugar and placated. And when it all blows up in their face, they just change the subject.
From Covid to Trump. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Donald Trump and his gashouse gang are destabilizing the entire world. And what can we do about it? Why must our lives look like the prequel for a Terminator movie? Announcer; “In the year 2025, the mad king initiated an insane world war.”
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times!” Cheer up, don’t waste today! Tomorrow could be even worse!
