Clinging to the Wreckage

By David Glenn Cox

Every day another chance and every day another chance lost. Another step down. George Will called this misadministration a “Moral Slum” but he was too kind. A moral ghetto or a toxic swamp of  misadministration. If Trump still had all of his faculties, he would have known better. What? Pete did what? Oh heavens forfend, we can’t have any of that! I’m afraid, my dear Peter, I’m going to have to ask for your resignation. But now, it’s too late. Now Pete’s corpse is tied like a cinder block to the misadministration’s cankles. And so, an apt metaphor, they’re clinging to the wreckage of this misadministration.

I do believe Senator Tom Cotton to be one of the bravest men I’ve ever seen. It is one thing to defend the orange criminal’s foibles and crazy talk. But to publicly defend his murders before the American public takes an abundance of courage or a shortage of intelligence. Just because Trump acts crazy and you defend him in his insanity, doesn’t make you necessarily insane. But when you defend his murderers, it makes you, their accomplice. Working in tandem with killers taints you as a killer as well.

Pistol packing, Peter is a dead man walking. You don’t need a weatherman, blah, blah, blah. You can’t release half of a video and declare the other half to be top secret. The video will come out eventually, or will fester and become infected and inflamed under the skin, like the Epstein list. And when it comes out, they will be left clinging to the wreckage themselves. Each missile used to kill those eleven-fishermen cost a quarter of a million dollars. They spent half a million dollars to murder eleven people. And they call that conservative.

Then, just to prove that he’s willfully incompetent and vindictive, the king of crime attacked another boat. (Sorry, no video available.) I’ve seen videos of cocaine traffickers before. Large fifty-pound packages bundled in white plastic. None of which were visible in any of these murders. The lies become more obvious because of their absurdity. Soon to be former Admiral Toady, told congressmen the fishermen were still fair targets. Because, while clinging to the wreckage and perhaps grievously injured, the fishermen could have contacted other drug boats to come rescue them and pick up their deadly cargo.

How exactly might they do that? Are there networks of fishing boats where they could shout or wave? Do they have a cell phone in their pockets while bobbing up and down in the open ocean? A flare gun? A telegraph? It makes no sense. If you left half the crew behind, you could carry twice as much cocaine. It wasn’t a drug boat; it was a fishing boat. Where were all the bales of cocaine? You just left them floating in the water, to be found by someone else? The misadministration is dead in the water and clinging to the wreckage.

It’s the orange Alamo and they are fighting down to the last poltroon. The revenge prosecutions have all failed. The attacks on Mark Kelly and the sedious six have failed. His deranged attacks on “Chuck and Nancy” have failed. Sorry, I just had to say that.

Since the misadministration has chloroformed the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is no monthly jobs report. Thanks to the payroll company ADP, we now know why. The WORST MONTHLY JOBS REPORT IN TWENTY YEARS! The worst jobs report since 2003. What’s the plan Stan? Cut interest rates? Retailers can see the writing on the wall. Cheap gifts are in this yuletide season. Perfume, gloves and sweaters. And for the big spenders, cell phones where it cost nothing today to be in debt for the next two years.

This misadministration finds itself frozen in the ice of its own incompetence. Their ship of state is shattered and capsized with no way to move forward. What happened to all that big talk about bailing out the farmers? Maybe next year, fellas! Hang on and we’ll get around to it as quick as we can! We’re up to our assholes in alligators, and the big cheese keeps dozing off during cabinet meetings. What is the proper etiquette here? Do you wake him or do you let him sleep? Perhaps nudge him quickly and then pretend that you didn’t?

In a move certain to instill confidence in the markets. The big banks have started to sell off their AI incurred debts. They’ve spent billions and bought the computer chips only to discover it will cost billions more to get the data centers up and running. And by the time they get them built, the loans will have already come due. If it takes another two to five years to get the data centers built. The chips already purchased will be obsolete and need replacement.

An AI bubble. A subprime debt bubble. A housing bubble, an employment bubble, a murder bubble and Mr. Bubble.

Sometimes, I hate to be right. As the US has its navy surrounding Venezuela, the Chinese are assembling their navy around Taiwan. If Trump can attack, why not Xi? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Germany and Poland have contacted President Zelensky and warned him the United Snakes can’t be trusted and will sell Ukraine and all Europe out. Our allies are warning our other allies the US can’t be trusted. That’s a fine kettle of fish, isn’t it?

Mr. Bubble, er a Trump has successfully destabilized the entire world. The failed Russian inspired Ukraine peace talks have successfully destroyed the NATO alliance. This misadministration has nothing to show but its naked backside for their efforts. Captain Crazy pants calls Americans garbage while he sends out his gestapo on masked round ups. They have made themselves incredibly unpopular in less than one year. Anyone like to wager on the next three? Unpopular with their own base! Unpopular with independent voters and unpopular with a Republican congress.

Trump once claimed he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose any votes. The question now is, can he shoot and kill one hundred people? While destroying our trade relationships, our economy and our futures. Trump rolled back auto emission standards because that’s real important right about now. He claims it will save Americans’ money while they’re buying more gas at the pump. Fuck the environment! Who cares? Oil companies now! Oil companies forever! Trump wants the oil in Venezuela. He wants the oil in Nigeria! He wants the oil in the 51st state and he wants the oil in Russia!

The old adage warns never let a drowning man take you down while trying to save them. Pistola, packing Peter, has run them aground and they’re clinging to the wreckage. Trump could have saved himself, but that would have required admitting to making a mistake. Something he will never do and now, it’s all over. Except for the wars and the stock market crash and the economic Depression. The worst monthly jobs report in twenty years. Desperately struggling farmers. Commodity prices falling. AI data centers are still five years out with a blight Christmas. They’ve done it all to themselves and to all of us! If it wasn’t for UP, this administration couldn’t fuck at all.

“But here is the challenge to our democracy: In this nation I see tens of millions of its citizens—a substantial part of its whole population—who at this very moment are denied the greater part of what the very lowest standards of today call the necessities of life.

I see millions of families trying to live on incomes so meager that the pall of family disaster hangs over them day by day.

I see millions whose daily lives in city and on farm continue under conditions labeled indecent by a so-called polite society half a century ago.

I see millions denied education, recreation, and the opportunity to better their lot and the lot of their children.

I see millions lacking the means to buy the products of farm and factory and by their poverty denying work and productiveness to many other millions.

I see one-third of a nation ill-housed, ill-clad, ill-nourished.

But it is not in despair that I paint you that picture. I paint it for you in hope—because the nation, seeing and understanding the injustice in it, proposes to paint it out. We are determined to make every American citizen the subject of his country’s interest and concern; and we will never regard any faithful law-abiding group within our borders as superfluous. The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.” – Franklin Delano Roosevelt
