This Carbon Based Life

It is a title I have borrowed from Winston Churchill’s first volume of his Nobel Prize-winning saga of “The Second World War.” The period from the end of the First World War until the entry of Great Britain into the Second World War. A time of economic upheaval and political folly. When the world went sleepwalking into the abyss. When politicians closed their eyes to the dangers and ignored the gathering clouds and remorseless hammers of certain disaster.

If President Trump had strolled out onto the stage in Davos in a state of nature, his mushroom doodle waving in the breeze. His speech could not have gone any worse. Windmills and loser countries. The speech was a disaster of the highest order. Scott Bessent, Trump’s fluffer and clean-up boy, is the Treasury Secretary who never talks about the Treasury. Instead, he walks behind Trump, sweeping up the turds Trump leaves behind. The President’s Davos speech signaled to Europe, Run! Don’t walk!

Then Mark Carney gave a calm, deliberate, and lucid speech explaining the political truth of the day. The old order is dead, and without pointing fingers or naming names, everyone knew who Carney meant. The old order is dead. Donald Trump and his grisly gang of raging criminals have killed it. And it’s not coming back anytime soon. The four horsemen of the apocalypse riding bareback on insanity and ideology have let loose havoc. The orange Fuehrer was furious. How dare Canada upstage him? How dare Norway not give him the Nobel Prize! Off with their heads! The angry little mad man inside, kicking over trash cans and chewing on the carpets.

We have taken the ticket and we must now all take the ride. A popular YouTube farmer recently announced that they had sold half of their 2025 corn crop. But they have yet to sell the first bushel of soybeans. President Trump has ruined the soybean market, and now the largest customer for American soybeans is gone, and gone forever. Don’t forget pork; that market is gone too! Europe is planning to purchase one trillion dollars in new weapons. Non-US made weapons! Donald Trump has destroyed the world’s confidence in the United States. We’re not the good guys anymore.

Their tanks will be made in Germany and their aircraft will come from Sweden. The infantry fighting vehicles from Poland. Canada cancelled 81 F35 fighter jets. Switzerland is preparing to cancel its order. Spain and Portugal have also opted out. They fear in a fit of pique Trump could shut off the parts pipeline or the software. Germany has kept their gold reserve in the United States. Lest the thundering Soviet horde should ever come steamrolling over Germany. The Germans have requested that their gold be repatriated. They now fear Washington more than Moscow. They fear our Fuehrer could create some incident or false narrative and steal their gold. Crazy? Considering Venezuela? Mr. Trump likes to brag about the wars he’s stopped without mentioning the wars and threats of wars he’s started.

Donald Trump last week said that Canada should sign a trade agreement with China. Then, after Mark Carney’s speech, he flew into a fit of rage. Promising 100% tariffs on Canadian goods. “Give us our gold back! Right now!” These tariffs would have a disastrous effect on the American economy. We import four million barrels a day of Canadian oil. Our farmer’s fertilizer comes from Canada. Is he mad? Yes, he is. Trump has rescinded Canada’s invitation to join Trump’s Board of Peace, Re, Bored of Peace. You said mean things about me, so you can’t join my private club! Na, na, na, na!  Oh, that’s perfectly normal behavior for a grown man, isn’t it? So there! We’re going to have lots of fun and do lots of nothing! But now…you can’t come along. Crazy much?

The old order is cracking up, as one politico called it a, “Superpower suicide.” An angry, petulant, sadistic narcissist is kicking down the props of world order, one by one. Reminiscent of whom, I ask you? We are right back to 1933, where might makes right, and the strong murder the weak. It could be stopped, and we might be rescued. But those with the power to stop it are more interested in show trials and Bill and Hillary Clinton.

 Let it always be remembered, as the economy melted down and overseas markets were thrown away. As the madman insulted our allies. The Republicans in Congress sat on their hands and did nothing. They share in the blame for whatever is about to happen. Traditionally red farm states, are facing an economic apocalypse, and the Republican answer is to investigate Jack Smith. Greenland (Iceland) broke the bank. Denmark is selling all of its 100 million dollars in Treasury bonds. Foreign investors hold roughly 8.5 trillion dollars in US Treasury’s almost 30% of the total US debt. (Who are you calling a loser country now, fat boy?)

Maybe they won’t sell, but more importantly, will they continue to buy? The world consensus says the United States is no longer safe or stable. Why should they feed the tiger?

The Gestapo have gunned down another American citizen. If you bought a gun for protection, what other reason do they need to kill you? It’s your gun, or it’s your car! Maybe, it’s just the way you looked at them? You’re a terrorist! Without even the slightest semblance of honest justice or judgement. The monster is on the loose! But what did Bill and Hillary Clinton know about Jeffrey Epstein? They defied our congressional subpoena? Now. We’re going to get them!

In a functioning democracy, the orders of impeachment would already be on the table. This issue is far beyond all partisan wrangling. The king is clearly insane. Take, for example, the President telling the Ayatollah in Iran, if they so much as touch one single protester, Trump’s coming in with guns a blazing. But when his murderous thugs shoot down a citizen in the streets of an American city, they somehow deserve what they got. Kristi Noem will someday stand in the docket. She claimed the victims were impeding law enforcement from doing their duty. When did that crime become deserving of capital punishment?

In this latest case, six to eight armed men were busy kicking and beating the shit out of a man on the ground. He sure was impeding them. They were so busy beating him they couldn’t hardly do anything else. Until they finally murdered him. Now, to your average Fox News or See BS viewer, the murder can easily be wished away into the cornfield. But to the rest of the world, not so much. Critical thinkers might ask themselves, what’s the difference between Tehran and Washington? Is this really where we want to do business?

President Trump threatens Canada over upgrading a port. When did that become a crime? Because his wittle feelings got hurt. So now, Trump is going to punish Americans in the name of revenging Canada. How dull and dim witted can a Republican Congress actually be? Donald Trump is literally setting the house on fire with them all still inside. And it’s only going to continue to get worse. It’s a gathering storm. And it won’t stop! It will never stop, until it’s finally made to stop! The wound can’t begin to heal until the poisonous thorn is removed.
