The Road to Defeat

By David Glenn Cox

Again, I feel so in awe. You know; it makes me feel all honest and dirty. The crimes I’ve never even thought of committing. Hack Kash Patel. Hack his email and then blackmail him. Safe bet, Playboy Patel won’t want to involve the FBI. His fear of being exposed superseding his desire for harsh justice. We know enough about Kash’s playboy activities. So hacking Kash, probably opens up a whole treasure trove of billable information.

It would never even occur to me to hack Kash Patel’s emails. It makes me feel inept. I’m plenty cynical, but I feel like Pollyanna next to these all-star dark cynical types. Hack Patel, why didn’t I think of that? How hard could it be? Kash has everything: he’s active, has money,  and he’s lazy. He’s got a public girlfriend/country singer. Kash likes to party. It looks like a gold mine without shovels. Oh, the potential! Chances are, it would far exceed any price paid.

Kash has got to be on thin ice with Donald Trump already. He might be near gone already, if Donald wasn’t so preoccupied with the Iran war. If Donald wasn’t so preoccupied with lots of things. A minor scandal might even help him a little. Something to help break up the bad news. I wonder sometimes if Donald Trump is even smart enough to realize how precarious the situation he’s in is? No president has ever received such poor service from his staff. Every intelligence agency in the government warned, “Don’t do it!” But they did it anyway. That had to be someone’s brain child.

Probably a faction of the cabinet. A group or small cell inside the cabinet. Why are they still employed? If you look at your garden variety fuckups, this one will have its own chapter in the history book. This is a 747 of fuckups compared to a box kite. This is a Titanic of fuckups compared to a rowboat. This is the sound of a “click” in a minefield. So, maybe they don’t care too much about Kash’s issues right now.

Mr. Trump is so far underwater on the Iran issue. The first day the first US boot touches the Iranian shore, Mr. Trump is lost. His administration is lost. The dreams and goals of  the old guard fascist republic are gone. Mr. Trump divided the herd with his rogue ICE practices and now divides the herd again over the Iran war. Go into a war with 26% approval and watch what happens next! Asking for 200 billion dollars was ill timed. “Whoops! We started a war, can we have some money?” Dad, I wrecked the car. Can I have some money?

It’s hard to defend a war without any good purpose. It’s a tough slog trying to sell the story. It makes me scratch my head. Didn’t they think they’d need a story? A story? Oh, right, a story. “Iran bad. Must bomb. Iran is doing bad things! Is that good enough? Mr. Trump released his 15-point surrender ultimatum. “We’ll huff and puff and pretend that we’re winning!  Are you ready to surrender yet?” Iran releases equally concrete proposals. Each side issuing non-debatable issues.

Iran wants to charge a toll on the Strait of Hormuz. A nonstarter. Iran wants the US to close its bases and leave the Middle East. Another nonstarter. A permanent peace including all of Iran’s friends and accomplices. Not going to happen. So both sides issued nonnegotiable surrender terms for the other. So, are there any negotiations going on? What for?

Now we’re assembling a hodgepodge force of troops intending to do what exactly? A force too small to do anything but get in trouble in a country that big. An unsustainable logistical nightmare. Assault troops and light infantry? For an occupation? All the king’s horses and all the king’s men can’t open the straits of Hormuz again. That’s the issue at hand. If Trump can’t open the strait, the war is effectively over. If Trump doesn’t end the war quickly, it will wash Trump away into the waste bin of history. The same way Vietnam destroyed LBJ, Trump is stuck between a rock and an Iran place.

Marco Pollio says on his social media. Our goals for the Iran war. Destroy their air force. Destroy Iran’s navy. Destroy Iran’s nuclear program. Limit Iran’s missile program. Obviously, these are goals already accomplished. Yeah, that’s what we meant to do, that! But it signals their first attempt to declare victory. Oh, if only it were that simple.

You’re no fun to war with! You don’t play fair! We quit! I guess if you blunder into war, it’s too much to ask to expect grace or elegance when leaving the war. The greatest American political failure of the new century. The world’s largest superpower humbled and humiliated by Iran. Given a choice either, bankrupt the US economy, while destroying the world economy for a generation or so or give in. Bring the world closer to the edge of nuclear confrontation or give in.

It’s the nagging feeling that no matter what the issue, the Trump regime will make the wrong decision and we have no choice in the matter. There is no communication with the public. Der Fuhrer doesn’t reassure us in his tweets. He just repeats lies and platitudes while leaving us in the dark. Much like another Fuhrer once did. When the going gets tough, the big mouth shuts up.

This gets harder every day. None of us wanted or asked for this war. We were already sick of Trump’s corruption and double-dealing. Then came the Epstein files and the stinking, sinking morass of crime and sickness. And just when you think it can’t get any worse, Trump blunders us into a war and then proceeds to lose it. If you had Trump destroys American hegemony on your Bingo card, congratulations!

God, how I wish for some good news. God, how I wish someone would wake me from this bad dream. Will Mr. Trump pick up his toys and go home? Leaving the region broken for another generation to repair with guns and bayonets like Europe after WWI? All this blood and money and the issues are still unresolved? All this blood and money, to make things worse on planet Earth. That’s what we get and that’s what we are entitled to get. We had a chance to protest on Saturday and only a paltry seven or eight million Americans bothered to show up.

Are Americans happy with the current situation? They must be! They don’t complain.
