Just Beyond Orwell

By David Glenn Cox

We’re so deep into Orwell here, beyond literature and politics. Big Brother’s media operation roars while its opposition squeaks. You might even call this a conspiracy theory. However, we already know the Trump administration lies. They lie all the time; they lie about everything, and they lie even when it’s not necessary. They hide the facts and actual information from the public whenever possible.

Leaving conspiracy as the only investigative tool we have available, because wherever you find lies and secrecy, you’ll also find incompetence and corruption. Something just happened in Iran. (duh) But the net result of that something, is whatever we can document with photographs and admitted losses. It’s bad! It’s real fucking bad. 1- F-15E fighter jet and 1- A-10  fighter jet lost. 2- MC-130 cargo planes downed. 2-MQ-9 Reaper drones downed. With two helicopters damaged and their crews wounded.

The story of the week has been the downed F-15 weapons officer, known only as “the colonel.” His escape after being shot down and his eventual rescue. Can a wounded man (the colonel) travel on foot 110 kilometers in one day? Can he conclude that feat by scaling a cliff? Well, sure, why not? According to the official story, the colonel had air cover that would take out any male within half a mile of the colonel. But riddle me this? If we had all that air power, why not just pick the colonel up? Why the long walk and the mountain climbing adventure for a wounded man?

Do you see how the story doesn’t really make a lot of sense? But geography is important here as the colonel was shot down near the Natanz nuclear facility. Why was the colonel flying over there? That couldn’t be a target. That’s where Iran stores all of that enriched uranium DJT is always so worried about. Now here comes the conspiracy part. Either all is just as the administration says it is with six kinds of Superman and six kinds of amazing misfortune or the story is much darker times two.

Slowly, ever so slowly, they tell the narrative. First, it was the F-15 shot down with two helicopters damaged and crews wounded. Then, the A-10 was shot down, while supposedly looking for the colonel. Earlier in the week, DJT had been having one of his irrational rants. Claiming the US should just take the uranium from Iran. Use Special Forces troops and capture Iran’s uranium. Then a funny thing happened. Two, count them, two MC-130 cargo aircraft were suddenly lost on an abandoned airstrip inside Iran. (rescuing the colonel) What were two cargo planes doing on the ground in Iran? That seems a bit extreme to rescue one colonel.

And there were also 120 special forces troops brought along engaged in firefights, with Iranians on the ground. Good news! We successfully rescued the colonel. But allegedly, both cargo planes got stuck in the sand at the airstrip and had to be destroyed. Both aircraft stuck? Now, the story sort of shifts from a rescue of the colonel to the destroyed cargo planes, downed fighter jets, damaged helicopters and special forces in firefights outside the Natanz nuclear storage facility. Three more MC-130s were dispatched to pick up all the US personnel at the abandoned airstrip in Iran. And they all lived happily ever after.

Wasn’t that lucky, an abandoned airstrip was so handy? On site? Now, if I were conspiracy-minded. We might suspect that someone listened to someone, and a bad idea was born. We can just use special forces and steal the uranium! It sounds like a video game premise: Mission: Capture the Enemy’s Uranium stockpile 500-points. If I were the subspinous type, I’d suspect there really was no colonel. The colonel was a fiction in a cover story for a failed assault on Iran’s uranium stockpile at Natanz facility that went horribly wrong. No one killed, no injuries says the administration. You believe them, don’t you?

It was reported that the 2 MC-130s got stuck in the sand and the US forces had been forced to destroy the planes themselves. These are aircraft designed for landing on unimproved fields. These are aircraft that could lift tons of cargo into the air, stuck in the sand? The dog ate my homework!

Iran, not surprisingly, says they destroyed the two MC-130 aircraft. They shot down the F15 and the A-10 and the Reaper drones, but we rescued the still unnamed Herculean colonel! Address: 123 Main St. Anytown, USA! We rescued our hero! It might look a lot like a disastrous failed special forces attack on the Natanz nuclear facility, but it was actually a daring successful rescue! God bless the USA!

Failure? Where did you get that idea? Politically, Mr. Trump couldn’t stand another military disaster of this magnitude. Why, if the people ever found out about such a military disaster, probably nothing would happen. A few more Trumpers would wake up, maybe. The poll numbers would dip down a bit. But now, if it was a daring rescue with colonel 007 scaling mountains. That’s good news!

I don’t want to deal in conspiracy, but the Trump administration deals in corruption and secrecy. So just accept we lost 2-fighter jets, 2-drones and 2 cargo planes and damaged 2 helicopters rescuing one colonel. A colonel shot down over Iran’s nuclear storage facility by the old, abandoned airstrip. Good thing we brought along 120 Special Forces soldiers.

A failed rescue mission in Iran destroyed the Carter administration. Good thing we rescued the colonel, or someone might get the idea that this was some sort of unmitigated military disaster. So deep in Orwell. Fighting secret wars with secret soldiers. Maybe all is the truth, or maybe all are lies. Maybe we don’t need to know what happened? Maybe it’s none of our business? If they say they rescued the colonel, that’s what they did, no matter what the evidence appears to show.

Strange that it took days despite full air superiority. Strange the story was told to us so piecemeal. Just strange. Just beyond Orwell.

“For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable – what then?” ― George Orwell
