Years ago, when I was in radio school Mr. Marconi was about to give a lecture on Mr. Tesla or was it the other way around? Anyway, I had just pulled out a fresh clay tablet and started to take notes. The lecture was about the basics of journalism. Who, What, When, Where and most importantly why! Mr. Occam was there with his razor, “The most obvious solution is probably correct.” And there was a Roman gentleman with his maxim asking, “Who gains from this?” There – I have condensed the basics of journalism to a single paragraph.
I was on a political Facebook page as I normally am when I saw this article. BERNIE SANDERS GOON SQUAD HARRASSES PARKLAND FATHER. Needless to say, it got my attention. GOON SQUAD that’s Republican speak for any group of two or more Democrats. It’s like bureaucrat, Harry Truman said, “A bureaucrat is a Democrat in a job a Republican wants.” These wild stories are rampant, last week it was Mike Bloomberg was going to pick Hillary Clinton as his running mate. So, I investigated the article and I won’t name it because like a third grader with a crayon they’re only seeking attention. Besides any attention garnered would only make them the most popular inmate in the asylum.
Who was in this Goon Squad…it didn’t say. How many were in this goon squad…it didn’t say. What were their names? Who was their ringleader? Were they menacing with knives and machine guns? Had police been contacted? Yeah, you got it. The article didn’t say. It said they were trolling this Parkland father who was an advocate for gun control. Hmmm, the Sanders campaign would troll him rather than invite him up on stage? Is the Sanders campaign suddenly against gun control? See what I mean? It doesn’t make any sense.
In politics there are some strict rules for running a campaign. To the front runner…make no mistakes. To those in the back of the pack…make a lot of noise. Is Bernie Sanders in the front of the pack or in the back? It doesn’t make any sense. It smells, in fact it reeks, a candidate calling for a return to decency trolling a person he agrees with. I called Bull Shit and told them I didn’t believe a word of it. I was set upon by a pack of children insisting the fat man in the red suit was really Santa Claus! One offered, “MSNBC covered the story.” I answered, does that make it true? MSNBC regularly plays clips from Donald Trump…are they true?
I checked out the website, it carried headlines, “Will Rudolph Giuliani be Arrested Today?” It was complete with an exaggerated photo straight out of the National Inquirer of Giuliani behind bars. I guess journalism is like politics in some ways, if you aren’t any good…make a lot of noise. We have gone from the Atomic Age to the Jet Age to the information Age and now the Bull Shit Age. Mr. Maxim asks, “Who gains from this?” MSNBC has never been friendly outlet to Bernie Sanders so the “why” is obvious.
We should expect much, much more of this and be prepared for worse. Bernie Sanders Kicks Box of Puppies! Or Bernie Sanders snatches ice cream from child or Bernie Sanders involved in purse snatching. Understand that there are billions of dollars at stake here. The Wall Street boys and girls and corporate America want this crooked little con game to continue and are willing to do anything to protect their steal yourself rich program. In my opinion Mike Bloomberg is a shill designed to split the Democratic Party, why else is he here? He’s Monty Burns running as a Democrat. “Who gains from this?”
I was an assistant Poll Manager in a past life and was working with an African American man from Chicago. He told me he’d seen Republicans park police cars in front of polling places to discourage the Black vote. The community responded by hiring gang members to stand in the parking lots of white precincts. Politics is a dirty business and in this the most important election since 1860 and we must steel ourselves for the fight ahead. We shall return with our shield or upon our shield. Chris Mathews with his executions in Central Park remark. What an embarrassment to himself and to his network. And who was it that Mathews works for? Oh, right…MSNBC. A responsible journalist would have been fired. Limbaugh isn’t dead yet Chris, so quit auditioning.
But be of good cheer and remember in your minds eye the courage of those who have gone before us. This type of behavior is to be expected of criminals, what do you expect from a pig but a grunt. The Republicans and their stooges and opportunist who see a chance to jump ahead of the line by publishing something eager eyes would like to see. Their goal is to muddy the water and to demoralize you. To break your spirit and to make you believe all hope is gone. But it’s not, not if we stand together. They are afraid of us and they should be. In fact, they are terrified of us. Be Strong – Solidarity Forever!
“I hate a song that makes you think that you are not any good. I hate a song that makes you think that you are just born to lose. Bound to lose. No good to nobody. No good for nothing. Because you are too old or too young or too fat or too slim or too ugly or too this or too that. Songs that run you down or poke fun at you on account of your bad luck or hard travelling. I am out to fight those songs to my very last breath of air and my last drop of blood. I am out to sing songs that will prove to you that this is your world and that if it has hit you pretty hard and knocked you for a dozen loops, no matter what color, what size you are, how you are built, I am out to sing the songs that make you take pride in yourself and in your work. And the songs that I sing are made up for the most part by all sorts of folks just about like you. I could hire out to the other side, the big money side, and get several dollars every week just to quit singing my own kind of songs and to sing the kind that knock you down still farther and the ones that poke fun at you even more and the ones that make you think that you’ve not got any sense at all. But I decided a long time ago that I’d starve to death before I’d sing any such songs as that. The radio waves and your movies and your jukeboxes and your songbooks are already loaded down and running over with such no good songs as that anyhow.”
