Living in Metropolis

Falling through the universe at the speed of life

By David Glenn Cox

I guess we now have our answer to one of life’s eternal questions. Would Republicans actually sell their parents if it meant financial rewards? Apparently, the Menendez brothers were just a little-known branch of the Republican Party. The brothers didn’t really murder their parents as much as they were trying to protect the economy. Can we at this point believe that the Oaf even understands what it is that he said? This is the barometric question for all societies, who lives and who dies. American values dictate E pluribus Unum, from many one. The Marines leave no one behind, George fishes Harry Bailey out of the drink and loses his hearing in one ear.

Once you cross that line and reach that level, nothing is off limits. “Welcome,” You have reached the lowest level of human depravity. Stalin once said, “Killing one man is a tragedy killing a million is a statistic.” This is the company they keep. Accepting and justifying in small measures, tearing down the storefront of humanity in a going out of business sale spectacular. In itself, it is not the actions themselves but the acceptance of the idea of the actions. Placing a dollar amount on human life vis, a via its productive capability,

It’s gonna be a hard sell at the senior center; VOTE REPUBLICAN! We won’t kill you…unless we have too!

“Excuse me, I was looking for indefinite detention and torture?” That’s two floors up Mac. We only do killings here. The Republican Party and its leader this Oaf, actually have the temerity to say to the American public, do the right thing let grandma die, it’s your retirement account too!

“We Germans, who are the only people in the world who have a decent attitude towards animals, will also assume a decent attitude towards these human animals. But it is a crime against our own blood to worry about them and give them ideals, thus causing our sons and grandsons to have a more difficult time with them. When someone comes to me and says, “I cannot dig the anti-tank ditch with women and children, it is inhuman, for it will kill them”, then I would have to say, “you are a murderer of your own blood because if the anti-tank ditch is not dug, German soldiers will die, and they are the sons of German mothers. They are our own blood”. – Heinrich Himmler

How far apart are these two scenarios? Himmler wanted an anti-tank ditch to protect German lives because those women and children had no value at him. The orange one stakes the lives of the shareholders above the elderly and infirm because they have no value to him. As reprehensible as these actions are, they are also foolhardy. After a two-week shutdown Hong Kong relaxed its protocols and returned to work. After another two weeks, confirmed cases of Covid 19 began to double.

Objectively, it appears the orange one is panicking and hitting the chicken switch. I’ll do this! No! I’ll do that! His made for TV economic advisor telling him this and that know it all Doctors telling him that.

During the Civil War, Robert E. Lee led the Army of Northern Virginia. The Confederate army consisted of state regiments. Blankets in a Georgia warehouse were meant for Georgia soldiers everyone else could go to hell.

Ten days after Pearl Harbor, a train carrying the 134th Nebraska National Guard was supposed to pull into to the North Platte station. 300 local women had baked cakes, cookies and pies to wish the soldiers well going off to war. But the rumor was wrong, it wasn’t the 134th Nebraska. The women fed the soldiers anyway. They weren’t their sons, but they were somebodies. What began spontaneously continued throughout the war eventually feeding six million soldiers, sailors and Marines. The food was donated by American’s willing to part with rationed food to help someone else.

The strength of moral leadership is towering the absence of it is craven. It is the difference between leadership and ruling. People follow a leader, the ruled must be given specific instructions and be governed. They are commoditized and digitized and given fair value only for their potential to produce. So that your value isn’t even your own. Living in Fritz Lang’s Metropolis working at the Heart Machine. You live below ground and your fate is decided high up in the new Tower of Babel.

No greater degree of callous incompetence has ever been displayed by an American President. The irony of it being the only remedy, impeachment, rings like a cracked bell. Failure compounding failure, rolling down hill picking up mass and velocity. It wasn’t too long ago we were outraged by children in cages and now the Cheeto is arguing euthanasia for dollars.

Once that premise is accepted that human life has a dollar value everything is open to justification. Your Bible becomes imaginary it’s concepts foggy and disconnected from day to day life. I love Jesus…I’m good. I guess he shouldn’t have resisted arrest.

“Before I knowed it, I was sayin’ out loud, ‘The hell with it! There ain’t no sin and there ain’t no virtue. There’s just stuff people do. It’s all part of the same thing.’ . . . . I says, ‘What’s this call, this sperit?’ An’ I says, ‘It’s love. I love people so much I’m fit to bust, sometimes.’ . . . . I figgered, ‘Why do we got to hang it on God or Jesus? Maybe,’ I figgered, ‘maybe it’s all men an’ all women we love; maybe that’s the Holy Sperit-the human sperit-the whole shebang. Maybe all men got one big soul ever’body’s a part of.’ Now I sat there thinkin’ it, an’ all of a suddent-I knew it. I knew it so deep down that it was true, and I still know it.”
