“The far-left radicals are trying to KKKancel us! They don’t want to hear our KKKonservative viewpoint, so they attempt to stifle us. Just like that time I was trying to talk about having bloody diarrhea and they shut me up at the dinner table.” They don’t get it or rather pretend not to get it. (Insert confused looking Tucker Carlson photo here) “What? All I said was immigrants stink and are dirty. Just like my daddy said and his daddy before.” To normalize offensive opinion. “And now the Liberals are trying to shut me up!”
Scrolling through the radio dial I found Mark Levin, and did you know? Joe Biden’s popularity is tanking. Under 40% in three separate polls. I kept waiting on Mark to name those polls, but he never did. Then he went after Faucci. “What does he know, an “educated idiot.” Yeah, what would a doctor know about illnesses? You are going to think I’m making this up, but he then asked, “Did wearing a mask really flatten the curve?” Well, since it was proscribed by every government on Earth from the North Pole to the tip of Tierra Del Fuego, I’m gonna go with “yes.” Doctors, experts, what do they know? Let my brother-in-law fix your car. He has no experience whatsoever, so you can trust him. I wouldn’t want some educated idiot with a bunch book learnin and stuff working on it.
It’s all part of their rock and roll fantasy, smoke and mirrors fun and games. Fear and panic, “We gots to do something Martha! Them Liberals is taking over!” Scare them into submission, if you don’t vote now, you might never get to vote again. Once them Liberals take over! Pizza parlors, cannibalism, and sex parties. Transgender children competing in girls table tennis events and using the bathroom! I watched part of the Women’s College World Series last night. Two teams and not one transgender athlete among them. How many kids go to high school? How many play on sports teams? How many are transgender? The old if you’re not careful somebodies going to take something from you and the Negros could move in. Like flight of the Valkyries, assume the mantle of the warrior fighting bravely against the inevitable. And then step out of the schoolhouse door as Broom Hilda sings.
The poor persecuted victims with only three dedicated cable news channels, assorted radio networks and Reich wing websites claim they are being stifled. Talking about race and taking an honest look at our history will only make the problems worse. Woody Guthrie once said, because he loved the pretty parts of America, he wanted to make the ugly parts better.
Create an issue, stoke a fantasy and start up the fog machine. According to Reich wing media thousands are dying in the street, like dogs after being vaccinated. State’s offering lotteries and free beer, just roll the footage from India of the piles of burning bodies. Let us hide from the world safe in our middle-class cocoon. If it does not happen to me, it doesn’t happen to anyone. But sometimes the propaganda machine works too well. New Mexico Republicans say jaded election theories helped depress the Republican turn out. As the turn tables spin in the Arizona recount and some Republicans look up and say, oops.
Harumph has torn the Republican party asunder. The loyalists, the loyalists on TV only, and the sure enough rebels. Do we play the game and buy the lie? The guy pulling the string has no skin in the game. A billionaire who can’t keep a blog a month because no one reads it. A Hell of a cult if they don’t want to read what the Bhagwan says. They just like the idea of Ray bans and Kool Aide parties. Jesus and the apocalypse a comin. “Fill the basement with survival supplies Martha; we may have shit in a bucket and live like mole people, but by god we will survive to meet Jesus!” Everything from soup to nuts, lots and lots of nuts.
But how oh how, can the keep the aging orange warhorse relevant for another eighteen months? Out of the loop he is out of the loop no matter how much he may comment on friendly cable channels. Harrumph’s continual running/not running strategy freezes his opponents and slows their contributions. It is bedlam inside the Republican party. The only things they agree on are to vote “no” on anything Biden proposes. The have become the Party of “no.” So, when Ron DeSantis vetoes mental health services his veto impacts every family in Florida with a family member needing mental health treatment. When Republican Governors cut unemployment benefits, they are shouting Fuck you! Into the faces of millions of needy Americans.
In 1948, Harry Truman ran for reelection not on his record but on the record of the do-nothing Republicans. And current Democrats ought to mirror that plan. Truman called them the “The do-nothing Republicans in Congress that you elected.”
Democrats tried to pass a $2.0 trillion infrastructure package, and the Republicans said “no.” We offered to cut the size of the package in half, and Republicans said, “no.” They want to talk about their problems and about who is using the restroom. Does your town need a new bridge or a new sign on the restroom door? Does your congressman live in reality or are they a Republican? Republicans like to warn of a rising China but when Democrats put forward a bill to keep us ahead of China Republicans vote “no.” Still waiting on that really awesome healthcare proposal to replace Obamacare they were working on four years ago.
The Party of hate and rebellion, the Party of fear and the do-nothing victims. The Party of finger pointing fabrication and vilification. The Pro-life Party fighting against healthcare. The Pro-family Party fighting against decent wages. A rolling windstorm and a Tasmanian devil. A sideshow carnival barker in the negative circus cries, Vote Republican, make evictions great again!
“Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home–but not for housing. They are strong for labor–but they are stronger for restricting labor’s rights. They favor minimum wage–the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all–but they won’t spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine–for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing–but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing–so long as it doesn’t spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it.”
