Accident? Fluke or Lucky Break?

By David Glenn Cox

Perhaps it is the largest non-question question with us today. Is Donald Trump in cognitive decline? It’s a non-question because there is no way to achieve a baseline to measure fairly. Does Donald Trump act unhinged sometimes? Obviously yes, but has he degraded and lost step in his criminality and mental acuity? Who remembers how sharp you were twenty years ago? For better or worse when you weren’t that sharp to begin with.

It is hard to accurately measure the accumulation of new stupid versus the reversion to the old tried and true stupid stacked up in the halls. How can you say Donald is dumber today than he was say, five years ago? The problem being Trump never showing his cards. He’s a mystery, one minute unhinged and less than lucid and the next, astute observer.

A Ketchup throwing maniac man child, who knew exactly which documents he wanted to “save” for later. Smart enough to remember the security tapes, albeit a little too late, but he thought of them eventually. Smart enough to move documents to foil their recovery by the FBI. Dumb enough to move the documents to foil their recovery by the FBI. So much for the “I didn’t know” defense. But that’s what lawyers are conjured up for, I guess.

Do the stolen documents qualify as “new” post White House/Sedition Trump crimes? Or just an adjunct crime connected with Trump leaving the White House? It’s all a blur, It’s all one long string of crimes like making sausage. Yet he thrives like a zombie impervious to criticism and pain. Facing ninety something charges and facing litigation from Astoria to Ashtabula. He just won the Republican Iowa caucuses in a cake walk against the weakest field in memory.

There’s got to be something more there, nobodies that lucky all the time. Twice impeached and twice escaped. He’s dragged the Republican Party through the mud covering for Trump the way you cover up for an alcoholic parent. You have to do it, or it makes everyone in the family look bad. Yet they still nervously smile and endorse him. That is a pretty slick trick.

We aren’t talking about 2016 Donald Trump, coming down the escalator anymore. This is the criminally indicted Trump and potentially likely to be convicted BEFORE election day. And yet, they still come to kiss his ring. But then, what choice do they have? They must kiss his ring or face his wrath.

Did Trump overwhelm the competition or did any real competition decide to sit down and be quiet beforehand? Either sensing Trump was unbeatable in the primaries or a sure loser in the general election. Choosing to sit this one out rather than risk any chance of being associated with the Death mask campaign of 2024.

Trump faces only token opposition between here and election day, so the excitement level goes where? The convention becomes a poorly attended coronation ceremony. There is no reason to attend the festivities. No floor fights or delegate counts. No platform disputes, just a doomed Milwaukee voyage with hookers and an open bar.

In response to being called, “birdbrain” by Trump Nikki says; “Oh yeah, who lost the election? Who lost the midterms?” It is almost but not quite an attack on Trump. An attack would go something like; “Oh yeah, who tried to overthrow the government, you so smart! If you’re so smart, how come you’re facing hard time in the grey bar hotel? Dumb? You’re facing your second defamation trial because of what you said after your first defamation trial!

Haley Vs. Trump? A snow fort against a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Like the lottery only statically and in an alternate universe does Nikki Haley have any chance of winning. But then neither does Trump. Republican money troubles point to enthusiasm troubles. Either the folks who write those big checks don’t think Trump can win or they don’t like him or both. So, Trump is running virtually unopposed will be a real money saver.

Trump’s message has evolved and gone are the days “Let’s build a wall and make Mexico pay for it!” The new Trump message is about camps and deportations, dark with anger and filled with retribution. Not the same Trump as last time and the high-water mark has already been reached. This is Donald Rumsfeld’s “Dead Enders,” The dead-end kids still flogging on that dead horse.

Donald Trump doesn’t lead the Republican Party; he holds it hostage. He uses it as a human shield to help him pay his bills and protect him from the slings and arrows of outrageous criminality. Trump isn’t running for office he’s running to stay out of prison. And yet the Republican’s gather to kiss his ring. As Nikki correctly pointed out the Republicans have lost the last three elections cycles and today doesn’t look like their day either.

This is the end of the line, get into your orange jumpsuits children and tie up your Nike’s. The comet is almost here, and the Kool Aid is chilling in the fridge. The cult is too strong to stop and too weak to win. With almost no serious competition Trump won the Iowa caucuses with a mere 51% of the vote in Trump country! Would you call that a superior showing?

Have the campaigns been stage managed and the candidates who attacked Trump directly were minimized and deselected. Was this all an accident with just a touch of serendipity? We just accidently wound up here with Donald Trump as the only candidate against Nikki Nobody.

Accident? Fluke or lucky break?
