Don’t Stop Believing

Well, that really didn’t take too long, now did it? Like Trump Steaks, Trump Magazine, Trump University, Trump Casino, and the first Trump Administration. The Trump Kennedy Center is shutting down and broke. The artists have all fled like the building was on fire, and it’s to be expected. You know, “The bleeding hearts and artists make their stand. Worm, your honor, let me take him home.”

As you would expect from a bully exposed. Mr. Trump promises, “He’ll be back! With an even better Trump-Kennedy Center! Just you wait and see! This coming 2029, it’s going to be great! We will have singing and dancing with Kid Rock and Nicki Minaj! And real classy stuff too, with cellos and fat ladies singing! It’s gonna be great! Just you wait and see!” Any wagers? It just proves the old adage: you just can’t buy class, and the harder you try, the more elusive it becomes.

Donald Trump is a man locked inside a box. The mad emperor slowly losing touch with the world around him. It’s like throwing a stone into a pond. At first, the ripples don’t seem so big. But as time goes on, they just grow larger and larger until they touch all sides of the pond. Remember way back five, six, or maybe seven Trump scandals ago? When there was trouble brewing down in Farm town? Mr. Trump promised a big bailout with big checks for everyone. Never worry, never fear, Donald Trump is here. Oh, for those halcyon days! But commodity prices have continued to deteriorate ever since. And like Vietnam, Mr. Trump is a no-show.

Funny story, but true. Back before the crash of 1929 began, the farmers began to go broke in record numbers. During the Great War (1914-1918). The government had encouraged farmers to plant, fence post to fence post. Buy more land, buy tractors! The boys over there and Europe need more food! But when the war ended and Europe slowly got back on its feet. Republicans in Congress passed trade tariffs. Stop me if you’ve heard this story before. Commodity prices fell, and farmers went broke, and then the little farm banks began to go broke. The stores and grain elevators in the little farm towns began to go broke. But Wall Street was still soaring. Who notices the suffering of little people at black-tie Washington dinner parties?

It was the canary in the coal mine and a harbinger of bad things to come. Because of Mr. Trump’s repetitive gum flapping. American farmers have few overseas markets left. Truckers have fewer loads to carry down to the dock. Grain elevators are stuffed to the rafters with last year’s unsellable grain, and a new planting season will soon be upon us. You can feel it coming, can’t you? Tractor Supply reported dismal Christmas sales. But they had a good reason! They always have a good reason. They said it was because people were buying smaller gifts this year. Yeah, they suffered because people could no longer afford those expensive luxury gifts from Tractor Supply.

Gold prices are soaring and then falling. Silver prices are doing likewise. Remember last week when I said Bitcoin might go below $80,000? Well, it’s now at $77,000. It’s up today! Up to $77,000, but what will it do tomorrow? The markets are slowly bleeding off. There is confusion in every direction. No one knows what might happen next, because no one knows what Mr. Trump might do next. Oil was up yesterday because of Trump/Iran fears. And down today on reduced fears. Do I spend? Do I save? Should I invest or run away?  

I’ve been looking for part-time work. You can’t hardly make a living doing this. Do you want to be a car salesman? There are lots of jobs for car salesmen. Lots of openings for car salespeople who have either quit or been fired for NO SALES! No thanks! I’ve already got a job with starvation wages. Wall Street couldn’t see the crash coming in 29. Radio was the next big thing on the scene. Model T Fords were selling as fast as they could build them. Today it’s AI. Then those little people ran out of money and credit. Just like the American consumer today. Savings rates are at record lows and credit debt is at record highs. With Mr. Trump flapping his gums, alienating all our customers.

It’s a new scandal every week! A United Arab Emirates Sheikh bought half a billion dollars in Trump criminal currency, just days before Mr. Trump was sworn in for a second disastrous term. The Sheikh was then rewarded with the highly coveted AI chips, the Biden Administration had refused them. Minneapolis, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein! Did Mr. Trump have sex with a thirteen-year-old girl? Oh no, heavens no! That was just all the other degenerates. But not him. The rot starts from the bottom. The worm is beginning to turn.

Trump’s popularity is eroding from Davos to Dallas. Red states ain’t so red anymore. Democrat wins mayoral election in Miami. Democrat wins state senate seat in Iowa. Democrat wins state senate seat in Pennsylvania and now, it’s not a misprint. Democrat wins state senate seat in TEXAS! Democratic Socialist wins in New York. Democrats have won every special election, and the Republicans have won NONE! The writing is on the wall. A job and food in the refrigerator speak louder than a red hat or Mr. Trump’s promises.

The murders in Minneapolis have shocked the conscience of the nation. Even in blood-red Alabama, Republicans are getting an earful. We are entering a time of great change and great danger. Ask yourself, what would a hardened criminal do to keep what he’s got in the face of growing unpopularity? A criminal who tried once before to steal an election. Trump must be defeated before the midterm elections. So reviled and so despised, Republicans in Congress would fear standing with him.

See BS with its new Fox News Lite format has seen an 11% decline in viewership. Apparently, the market for bullshit is oversold. But See BS is doubling down and hiring more conservative lie spinners. What else is a billionaire to do with his new toy? Fox News struggles to spin Trump bullshit into gold with a straight face. The same thing happened to Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu in Romania. One day, just out of the blue, the people said enough. No more! And all the secret police and military threats which had held the people back suddenly stopped working.

Don’t stop believing. Things will always appear to be ten feet tall and unbeatable right up until they fall. Herbert Hoover sent troops in to rout the Bonus Marchers. American veterans who were peacefully camped, asking for the money that was owed to them. Hoover was the last Republican president elected for the next twenty-one years. Hoover’s violence failed!

When I was living in the tiny berg of Parkman, Ohio. A town with only one streetlight. You could literally stand at the city limits and see the other side of town. We only had one thing that gave the town distinction. The grave of a Revolutionary War soldier. On Memorial Day and the Fourth of July the high school band played, and the color guard held flags of honor, as the National Guard led ceremonies of remembrance.

Who was this man? What motivated him to risk everything? There was no draft, only volunteers with no pay and no promise of success. Why would someone do that? Take up arms against the most powerful king on Earth. When he could be killed. Something must have been very important and had spoken to him.

THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.
