Same As it Ever Was

By David Glenn Cox

Pursuing the primary election results, the media was filled with winners and losers, and especially an extra heaping portion of the media explaining to us what it all means. But missing from the totals was any mention about turnout. Trump-backed candidates knocked off incumbents and won Republican primaries in Trumpo country. So? And the media says, “That Trump’s still got it!” But did the Trump insurgents win because of a Trump-backed a populist groundswell? Or did the Trumpers show up, while the non-Trumpers were demoralized and sensing a fait acompli declined to participate?

It is really easy to read the media tea leaves by what they DON’T want to talk about. By the story they don’t tell. It’s standard procedure to report on voter turnout. Unless that story doesn’t fit the narrative of all-mighty Trump triumphing. What they don’t know won’t hurt them. Its long been assumed that the primaries draw primarily from the party faithful. In Trumpo country, that’s  “you know who.”

If I hear one more Trumpo official insist Iran can’t be allowed to have a nuclear weapon, I think I’ll puke! Iran wasn’t building a bomb. If they had, they would have built one by now, and we wouldn’t be in this situation. If you have the enriched uranium, hallway to bomb-grade condition just taking up space in the warehouse and they haven’t built a bomb yet? North Korea has built several nukes, and that country is considered poor and technologically backward. North Korea could pull it off, but not Iran? Obtaining the uranium is the hard part; building the bomb is the easy part. Easy for a country with universities and science labs.

But that’s today’s message, America. Buy now, for best results; swallow whole! Iran can not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon! “They’re going to murder us all in our beds!” Flaming hot rhetoric! I think my favorite lie is Trumpo was preparing to strike Iran again! He was losing his patience. Will someone please explain [CEASE FIRE] to the Chief Executive! You don’t just get bored and start shooting again because you’re unhappy with the results so far. That’s called “barbaric.”

As transparent a ploy as can be remembered. Trump was just about to beat the shit out of Iran again when he was asked (nicely, of course) by Gulf Arab nations not to. Wasn’t that nice? He’s such a nice man. He’s just a big softie. Boy, Iran sure was lucky, huh? After beating the shit out of Iran and accomplishing nothing, the king warns, “he’s preparing to do it again!” Trumpo talks tough, it’s not his oil refineries being hit by Iranian drones.

You know; sometimes I don’t see how we will get out of this. Also, not in the news you can use. The Department of Energy has released 17.5 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum reserve. All in an effort to hide from the American people the seriousness of the situation. They’d have you thinking Big Daddy Trumpo sits on his golden throne and barks down orders at the peons. He has the situation well in hand! The strategic Oil Reserve sinks down, braking and breaking the free market’s opinion. Crude oil, Texas tea, Trump propaganda, keep on pumping, keep it coming! Why, if Trump stops draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve fuel prices could soar to six or seven dollars a gallon.

I fear another Trumpo bankruptcy coming in the offing. An empty missile warehouse someplace and an empty strategic Petroleum reserve. A trillion-dollar military can’t open the Strait of Hormuz, but maybe a trillion-and-a-half-dollar military can? Maybe if we repeat “we’re winning!” often enough, it will catch on. But the message from the Arab states wasn’t “oh, please, don’t strike Iran again.” Like a bouncer breaking up a bar fight, the Gulf states were saying, “That’s enough!” Do you see?

Last week, China. This week, the Gulf states. Like the sands through the hourglass, so is the sand under Trumpo’s feet. China says, “Knock it off!” The Gulf states are also saying, “Knock it off!” And Europe is barely speaking to the Untied Snakes. Trump is being pushed by the world to reach an agreement with Iran. But Trump has set the goals for victory so high, it’s hard to surrender. Trumpo, needs to be placated. He needs to show how he won, when he lost. Trumpo needs a FIFA Middle-East Victory participation trophy or a medal. A Certificate of Achievement!

Let all who read this know: Donald John Trumpo. Won a great military victory, and he’s not a draft-dodging coward like everyone says. He is hereby awarded the cowardly lion rank of Kentucky Fried Colonel! He’s our brave leader, Warrior Trumpo and his faithful dimwit companion, Hell is for Children, Pete Hegseth.

Trumpo can’t win, but he can’t be seen to lose. A military defeat will wreck everything! When you’re the undefeated, big tough bully on the block, Fonzie can’t take a black eye. He doesn’t look so tough or unbeatable anymore.

But if you listen to the careless Republicans, you’ll hear them mumble, Trumpro doctrine. A goofy Americanism, like manifest destiny. Trumpo is going to take out all the bad guys and make the world a better place for wealthy white people. And the law and justice can kiss our ass! Do you mean it’s not really about Iran’s enriched uranium? Or Venezuela being a narco-state? Preparing charges against 94-year-old Raul Castro for being Fidel Castro’s little brother in Cuba. Trumpro doctrine, Trumpo does whatever the hell he wants. Attempting to bring neo-feudalism to America.

Trump is a military adventurer bent on conquest. Drop the moonlight and magnolias; this is about world conquest. Just like always. No sooner is one crisis is settled than we move on to another. First the Sudetenland, and then Austria. The Czech crisis and the invasion of Poland. Like Caesar, Alexander, Napoleon or Hitler. Same as it ever was!

“I myself was to experience how easily one is taken in by a lying and censored press and radio in a totalitarian state. Though unlike most Germans I had daily access to foreign newspapers, especially those of London, Paris and Zurich, which arrived the day after publication, and though I listened regularly to the BBC and other foreign broadcasts, my job necessitated the spending of many hours a day in combing the German press, checking the German radio, conferring with Nazi officials and going to party meetings. It was surprising and sometimes consternating to find that notwithstanding the opportunities I had to learn the facts and despite one’s inherent distrust of what one learned from Nazi sources, a steady diet over the years of falsifications and distortions made a certain impression on one’s mind and often misled it. – William L Shier
