One by one, these small events can be ignored or discounted. Yet together they take on a cumulative effect. The Netherlands recently moved $12 billion in gold reserves out of New York and sent them to London. Then they sold $528 billion in gold in New York and simultaneously purchased the same amount in London. The reasons given were innocuous. To have the money closer to home in case of an emergency. In case of an emergency named Donald Trump. France also sold off $15 billion in New York gold in case of a similar emergency.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney recently said, “Seven of every ten Canadian dollars spent on defense goes through the United States. That is going to stop.” Canada decided to buy Gripen fighter jets from Saab, rather than F-35s from Lockheed-Martin. The Trump administration blustered and warned the Canadians, but to no avail.
Orange Frankenstein canceled military exercises with South Korea because they wouldn’t assist Donald Trump in his illegal war. Then, as if that wasn’t insult enough, Trump made overtures to North Korea. I bet that’s going to really help the business climate! The brutal North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il, wisely told Trump and his team to “go get bent.” Kim wasn’t about to be seen catering to this orange buffoon. He has his reputation to consider, and he wasn’t about to get mixed up in any Trumpian shenanigans.
Last month, Mr. Trump sharply criticized Spain, calling them a “terrible partner” in NATO. I suppose it takes one to know one. Everyone is a terrible partner, according to Donald Trump, But even horrible third-world dictators no longer want Trump around. Consider then the plight of the poor, poor Republicans in the mid-term elections. They don’t want Donald Trump around on the campaign trail either, but dare not tell him so. With his bad temper and complex insanities, Trump could cut off their funds from the RNC, or endorse their opponents, or open up a tax audit. It’s called petting the lion to show him you aren’t scared of him.
The list of “toss-up” states in former Trump country now includes entire regions of the country. Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. Gee, do you want Mr. Trump to make an appearance with you on the campaign trail? “Hell, no! I mean, I’m certain that the president is way too busy, what with his building grandiose monuments to himself and his new girlfriend and all, and I wouldn’t want to put him out.” We could send JD Vance instead, if you like. “Oh, God no, not that!”
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent made a speech at the G-20. Everyone listened quietly and applauded pleasantly, and then back to work. What do the ramblings of a puffed up self-important little turd burglar mean when they work for Donald Trump? Every word Bessent said could be out the window in the morning. In Trump we trust; is trusting in the wind. It means nothing, nothing at all. I’ll show you what I mean. The sons and daughters of American agriculture remained loyal to Mr. Trump through thick and thin. Right up until Mr. Trump decided to help the long-suffering American consumer.
It’s one of the administration’s largest lies to date! “Mr. Trump is lifting tariffs on Argentine beef to lower beef prices.” The mongrel media repeat it like a trained seal plays the horns. The king and his queen traded $20 billion US dollars for an equivalent amount of Argentine pesos. Their goal was to prop up the peso, but on August 16th, the peso collapsed again. So we get beef! Lots and lots of beef! Make Argentina Great Again! Oh, but it’s all to help the poor, poor consumer with high food prices. The price of US beef on the hoof fell substantially on Mr. Trump’s announcement. From North Dakota to Texas, ranchers in the formerly red states are pissed off! But at least now the poor consumer can buy five dollar a gallon gasoline or six dollar a gallon Diesel and save twenty-five cents on a pound of hamburger.
I’ve been considering starting a Go Fund me page called “Tearing down all of the Trump Monuments” but I don’t dare trust myself with that much money. It’s the insult that keeps on insulting. As Americans struggle to keep a roof over their heads, what do they see the President doing? Building monuments to his own greatness! It stings like salt in their wounds. It’s one toke over the line, sweet Jesus. The fight over the Kennedy Center and the Ballroom blitz and now (coming soon) the Arch of Dicktory. Celebrating Mr. Trump’s love of himself and general disregard for everyone else.
Wall Street celebrated this month’s jobs report. Cheering on a mediocre report as, “Thank God, it didn’t get any worse!” It’s a funny time on Wall Street. The riverboat gamblers want to play one more hand, while keeping one eye on the lifeboats. Interest rates are expected to rise to lure back wary investors. The United States was once considered the safest place in the world to do business, but not anymore. Nowadays investors must consider what an unstable Donald Trump might do next. 10% tariffs or 50% tariffs or maybe even a full scale invasion? Maybe he’ll invade Greenland or maybe Cuba next, depending on who has more that Trump can steal.
The administration has reached the disgusting level of a cheap three-day Carnival cruise. Madness and dysfunction at eye level. Talking loud and proud, while sticking their fingers into the dikes trying to plug the gaps. Will Rogers once said, “He never met a man he didn’t like.” Donald Trump says, “He never met a nation he did like to invade. Outright, bona fide illegal grand theft of Venezuelan resources with an international treaty not worth the paper it is written on. Consider for a moment how that resonates with the business community world-wide? International gangsterism, twenty-first century, neocolonialism.
And there in his brutal hands lay the broken neck of the golden goose. Never to lay anymore golden eggs. The world at first was shocked and appalled by Mr. Trump’s behavior, but has now decided its best course of action is to back away slowly. Smile and pretend to be happy and satisfied, but just keep backing away.
“Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home–but not for housing. They are strong for labor–but they are stronger for restricting labor’s rights. They favor minimum wage–the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all–but they won’t spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine–for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing–but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing–so long as it doesn’t spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it.”
― Harry S. Truman
The Republicans want to build AI Data Centers in your backyard and they want you to pay for them. They want to use your water and your electricity to put you out of work. They want to buy up unused warehouse space to build concentration camps in your name. What you can’t see won’t hurt them!
