Donald Trump says maybe he ought to let Iran wipe out a city like Los Angeles or San Diego. Yeah, that’ll teach em! It’s the clearest example yet of what the doctors have been warning us about. As the brain deteriorates, it loses its impulse control. Mr. Trump really didn’t mean it. It’s just a symptom of his illness. But the Nebraska crowd cheering for the destruction of an American city is a bit troubling, and a little harder to diagnose. Were they just not listening and cheering on reflex? Two minutes of hate?
JD Vance says we should all just be patient with these “little inconveniences” You know, super high fuel costs, inflation, and a deteriorating economy. It’ll all be worth it in the end. Either Vance doesn’t know what he’s talking about, or dementia is possibly contagious. It’s like they’ve gotten so out of step with the music, like a dancer with two left feet, that it would almost be wiser to put the campaign on pause. Say nothing and let the chips fall where they may.
We’ve been down this road before. Saddam’s aluminum tubes and he could strike the West Coast with chemical weapons in forty-five minutes. Nonsensical garbage all for the purpose of enabling a war of oil hegemony. Saddam was a verified piece of shit, but more importantly, he had billions in oil wealth. Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction, and America knew it. Hell, I knew it, but America had weapons of mass distraction. The chemical weapons Saddam did have were supplied by the Untied Snakes. Saddam has chemical weapons and is going to kill us all in our beds! (Teehee, teehee! Snicker, snicker!)
“Why of course the people don’t want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people don’t want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship.
Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” ― Hermann Goering,
Now our leaders tell us Iran is building a nuclear weapon and just as soon as the paint’s dry they will attack us. Nobody asks the obvious question of why? Or how could Iran move this bomb to the West Coast? What would they do with their remaining hour of life before the Untied Snakes turned Iran into the surface of the moon?
Iran says that the Ayatollah declared a nuclear weapon to be un-Islamic back in the nineties. That doesn’t mean that Iran would have to announce all of their military secrets to a world filled with adversaries. After the war, Albert Speer was asked about Germany’s nuclear program. It was too expensive. It would have taken every farthing Germany had, with no guarantee of success. Nuclear weapons are crazy expensive to build and maintain. Once built, they need constant maintenance and constant security.
The most expensive part of a nuclear program is uranium enrichment. It’s costly and time-consuming, but if the time ever came when a bomb wasn’t declared un-Islamic, it would be useful to have on the shelf. Pretending to build a bomb is almost as good a deterrent as building a bomb. The mechanical nuts and bolts of the bomb are relatively simple, but without the years of uranium enrichment, it would all be pointless. Nuclear neighbors and hostile foes surround Iran. If Iran had built a bomb, we wouldn’t be in this mess we’re in right now. If Iran had built a bomb the likely target would have been Riyadh, rather than Telaviv. It’s the Middle Eastern version of the Hatfield’s and the McCoy’s going back generations. But you could hardly rile up an American audience with Iranian threats to Saudi Arabia. How soon we forget! Israel sold/traded weapons to Iran during its war with Saddam.
If Iran had ever wanted to actually build a bomb they would have done so by now. India, Pakistan, Israel, and even backward little North Korea have accomplished it. Iran has had forty years and still no bomb? Iran has oil wealth. That’s the prize the Untied Snakes desired. The nail that sticks up gets hammered down. Do as you’re told! Shut your mouth! Venezuela is a good case in point. The goal was the oil all along. Here was a weak Latin American country mugged in a dark alley. The same people who worked for Maduro now work for the US. Getting rid of a socialist dictatorship? Nope, not hardly. Venezuela gets hit by an earthquake, and the administration asks, so, what does that mean to us? Are the oil facilities okay?
This idea of the US is some sort of altruistic, grandfatherly type is a credit to our modern media. Oil is the fuel the modern world runs on. He who controls that oil (or enough of it) controls the world. It’s an open spicket of pure wealth and power. Now, what would that mean to a man like Donald Trump who is obsessed with wealth and power and diminished in impulse control? Surrounded by (not so) clever fellows and ambitious men. “Cassius has a lean and hungry look!” Idealogs and morons reproving out Dunning-Krueger. We could hit ‘em with a surprise attack! They’ll never know what hit them. “All we need to do is kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will collapse!”
No different from a German Fuhrer who was seeking Russian oil. We need it! We want it and we will take it! World conventions and public opinion be damned! It is one of those look in the mirror moments, and what do you see? Evil men with grotesque ambitions, criminals in orange face and suits and ties, smiling and speaking of melodious patriotism and their love of country when their goal is greed, barbarism and world domination.
“There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat;
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.”
― William Shakespeare ,
“There is no instance of a nation benefitting from prolonged warfare.”
― Sun Tzu
