Priming the Pump

By David Glenn Cox

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it fall, does it make a sound? If an economy is skidding towards a recession/depression and the media refuse to report on it, does it make a sound?  GM, aka General Malfunction, has nearly one million vehicles with defective engines. Some vehicles fail with less than a thousand miles on them. Some customers are on their second replacement engine. Is that newsworthy? Warning the public about defective GM vehicles? What do you want for $80,000, durability or something? Look at the size of that touch screen! It speaks seventeen languages!  GM advertises heavily on the television networks and we wouldn’t want to make them angry, now would we? Let the suckers find out on their own the hard way. They won’t ever think to blame the TV station.

About a week or so ago. I wrote about a local poll from Houston (Harris County). The poll showed James Talarico ahead of Ken Paxton 58% to 36%. It made me wonder. Would those results transfer to some place like Liberal Austin or dark blue San Antonio? The millionaire media had Talarico ahead by 4% which made me wonder. Now suddenly, overnight, Texans aren’t so bothered by high fuel and grocery prices. They aren’t so bothered by Mr. Trump’s wars or Ken Paxton’s incredible record of corruption and criminality. Suddenly, they don’t care about those things anymore. A new See-BS poll finds Talarico now ahead by a single percentage point.

How does this happen? How does that sort of swing occur? If they reported Paxton was behind by 20 points, Republicans might not come out to vote on election day. But if, however, they report Paxton is only behind by a single percentage point, their vote becomes very important, and perhaps they will come out and vote after all. It’s called priming the pump. Resident Trump goes out on an endless series of identical rallies to diminishing crowds. And the mongoloid media report on each and every one  of them as if they are all so very special and unique. Some stations even televised the whole ninety-minute rally. A real ratings getter! See-BS gives JD Vance a one-hour town hall, because we’re all so very interested in JD’s perspective.

President defect, Trump sicks his injustice department on his political enemies, and the muttonhead media simply ape along. Jack Smith, Letica James, Fanni Willis and now Illain Omar. “Omar connected to Immigration fraud!” Will Omar be denaturalized and deported? Sinclair Media can’t wait to make it all up and tell you all about it. “Omar demands property be returned.” Anything to keep the story alive and over-amplified. Boiling down to, did Omar’s father make a mistake when writing down his daughter’s age twenty-five years ago? STOP THE PRESSES! Big fucking news, America! Oh, yeah, deportation of a sitting member of Congress is on that table over a paperwork snafu. It’s not news. It’s stirring the pot. Trying to get the yokels and red hatted weed benders all worked up.

In California, the injustice department charged 28 with voter fraud. Sinclair media describes the incident as DOZENS being charged. Two dozen, in a state with over 23 million voters. Literally one in a million voters. But the Trump narrative is about voter fraud, isn’t it? If history is any pathway, these are mainly ex-felons who thought they had been redeemed and could vote again legally. The actual story shows just how well the system operates, but it won’t be reported that way. “Dozens and dozens charged!”

The aging, asinine orange ape man turns traitor and says. “Ukraine has done nothing for us!’ That’s very insightful to see how the old buffoon’s diseased brain operates. Ukraine must give us something first, if it expects help. But the simple fact that Cankles McBrainfreeze would suddenly turn a dime in Russia’s favor, implies that Russia did give him something. Sinclair Media described it as “Mr. Trump’s oil deal.” Just a simple bargain to assist the struggling American consumers. What’s wrong with that? Why mention Russia? Why mention Congress and the world being outraged?

Kansas Republican Roger Marshall was heckled out of his last town hall by angry constituents. Even  BEFORE energy prices skyrocketed. All is better now as the millionaire liars’ club calls the race. Leans Republican. Ken Paxton held a rally attended by no more than 200 supporters, two weeks before the election. The Paxton juggernaut just keeps rolling along. Who are you going to believe, US, or your own lying eyes?

Currently, there are 331,000 homes for sale across the Untied Snakes. A nearly identical number to the 2008 real estate bubble. They are not equally distributed. In the Northeast and Midwest, there is less new construction. High interest rates make moving impractical. Give up my 3% loan for 7.5% interest? At these prices? That’s suicide! Homeowners with recent loans purchased during the era of inflated prices must stay in their homes now or burn them down.

But in the usual trouble spots, Floriduh, Texas and Georgia. Homebuilders are struggling and cutting prices and buying down interest rates until the homes are nearly selling for construction costs. And still, sales are slow, but the only alternative is to send people home and close up shop. The economy is doing so well that Netflix is laying off one thousand people. Meta is also laying off thousands. Walmart is laying off thousands. Burger King is closing 200 locations, and so is Wendy’s. Subway is shuttering hundreds of locations and even the king of overpriced products. Starbucks is closing 200 locations. McDonald’s stock price has declined by 30% this year despite this wonderful economy that Mr. Trump has given to us. TIMBER!

I don’t recite these statistics to scare or enlighten you. As most of you already know these things. My intent is to illustrate what is NOT news in modern America. As long as you don’t mention the iceberg, the maiden voyage of the Titanic was a raging success. How bad is it really? Home foreclosures are nearing 2008 levels. Car repossessions are at all-time highs.

Maine Republican Susan (I voted against that before I voted for it) Collins offers to Mainer’s that she got Resident Trump to drop rock salt from his tariff list. We’re saved! Boy, that was sure a lucky break, huh? Leans Republican.

In-store gas station sales have dropped by over 10%. No more big-gulps or day-old hot dogs. Forget the candy as it has become prohibitively expensive. The stress signs are all over, but they remain largely unmentioned. Why, if the complicit media went around advertising all the bad news and bad economic numbers, Republicans could become demoralized and not go vote or, God forbid, vote for a Democrat!

One more for the road. The other day I had mentioned one of the largest oil trading companies in the country had explained. That there is an oil stockpile oil companies use in case of a rainy day. And when that stockpile is exhausted, oil prices could reach $200 per barrel. That’s seven dollars a gallon for gasoline and ten dollars a gallon for diesel fuel. Currently, the oil shortfall is around 20% or It’s raining like hell out there. The stockpile is only expected to last for four more weeks.

“I have a higher and grander standard of principle than George Washington. He could not lie; I can, but I won’t.”  ― Mark Twain,

“If he needs a million acres to make him feel rich, seems to me he needs it ’cause he feels awful poor inside hisself, and if he’s poor in hisself, there ain’t no million acres gonna make him feel rich, an’ maybe he’s disappointed that nothin’ he can do ‘ll make him feel rich.” ― John Steinbeck,
