What, Me Worry?

By David Glenn Cox

It’s all fun and games until someone stumbles us into a world war. But postering and teasing the dog has overtaken their Republican vision and even their common sense is lost. As a part of the Republican campaign of stomping their feet and shouting “No! I won’t eat my vegetables until you buy me a pony!” And so, the Republican Party stumbles blindly into the next world war by aiding and abetting in an attritional war with an enemy of this country.

Without leadership, there is a dangerous vacuum which could be filled with bad ideas and worse outcomes. In the name of scoring political points, the Pro-life Party of this country condemns thousands to death and misery on the front lines and the cities of Ukraine.

House Republicans cynically withholding military aid and sending the message to our allies that the United States can no longer be counted on or trusted, and Europe must go it alone.

An attritional war has developed along the lines of WW1 in Ukraine. Trench assaults gaining here and losing there all to gain a quarter mile in a month. The tanks broke the stalemate in 1918 and the arrival of a million US troops finally tipping the scale after France and Briton had bled themselves white. WW2 was direct result of WW1 and so, WW4 will probably be a direct result of WW3.

I know some people say there will never be a WW4, but let’s try to think positive. This where the leadership vacuum comes in. But by starving an ally and allowing the senseless bloodletting to continue, Republicans make our allies nervous. All while encouraging Russia to try harder still. What’s the US going to do! Nothing! They can’t get their head out of their ass long enough to see where their game playing is leading them.

By the lack of their leadership the House Republicans create a roadblock. Some of our allies are getting a little antsy because they are unsure if US assistance is coming. But gee, House Republicans want to wring concessions from the Biden Administration over the southern border.

Their whole plan for Republican reelection after two disastrous years of fiasco is to fan the flames of hysteria at the southern border. And the best way to get what they want is to create a childish stunt and withhold aid until Joe Biden does what they want. “So what? So, the Ukrainians do without. What’s that mean to me?”

France and Poland are talking about sending troops into Ukraine. (know what that means?) Because they see the attrition and won’t allow Ukraine to be ground down to a nub on their borders. They won’t allow an emboldened Russia to upset the balance of European affairs. They’ve been down this road before and understand the consequences, do you want your war now or later?

All because house Republicans are withholding military aid packages hostage. “So what? So, the Ukrainians do without. What’s that mean to me? Har, har, har.”

Republican squeaker of the House Mike Johnson reportedly had his ass chewed on pretty good at a Whitehouse meeting with the Administration and Mitch McConnell. Johnson was supposedly “cornered” on government funding and Ukraine aid. The story goes that meeting was heated with all the hottest kind of unchristian language used. With references to parental lineage and relative sex partners or sex partner relatives. Biden + McConnell vs. Johnson, N’est-ce Pas?

Russia is pulling Korean War era tanks out of mothballs. Ukraine has beaten the Russian Black Sea fleet. Ukraine has shot down ten Russian aircraft in ten days and has destroyed 10% of Russia’s oil refining capacity in a week. Russia was talking about letting Europe freeze this winter and now, Russian’s are feeling the cold as an oil producing nation stops selling oil.

But the longer this war goes on with both sides worn out and Russia might be tempted to do something stupid. Ukraine has shown the Russian air defenses to be a Swiss cheese patchwork of catch as catch can. Either with gas or a small nuke maybe. The Russians blew up the dam, didn’t they? The Russians intelligently dug in the dirt around the wrecked Chernobyl nuclear plant, didn’t they? Stirring up the nuclear dust and killing scores of their own troops with their gross incompetence.

Moral: Don’t expect stupid people to do something smart. Expect stupid people will do something stupid.

The Russians are all in on this project and will not abandon it if there is any prospect for success. Two of the Russian aircraft lost this week were command planes valued at 330 million dollars each. The Russian air force is depleted, and her missile inventory is largely gone. When would be a good time for Russia to pull a nuclear rabbit out of a hat? Maybe now!

Russia has framed this war domestically as a war against NATO from the start . And if France and Poland send troops in? What then Gunga Din? Then Germany and Britain and the Baltic States join and then we’re in a shooting world war. All to wring a few concessions out of Joe Biden for the 2024 Republican campaign…Just brilliant!

Always the same cast of characters the Matt Gaetz Gorillas or the Gaetz crazy eight. A caucus not large enough to lead or positively accomplish much of anything. Just large enough to be the sand and stones in the gears and gum up the works for personal TV time. “Republicans Plan to Shut Down the Government…Again!” It didn’t work the last four- or five-times Republicans tried to shut down the government, but maybe this time.

House Republicans tap dancing through the minefield and oblivious to being watched. Heedless that remorseless persons are listening and taking notes. What they say and do matters to the entire world. We are all interrelated here.

A shooting war in Europe could mean a shooting war with China. There would never be a better time to attack Taiwan. The Houthis and the Iranians would cheer a world war. It would be a great time to advance their agenda. The enemies of Israel would rejoice, and the world economy would go down the tubes for a decade or two.

All to score political points from Joe Biden for the 2024 campaign. What could go wrong? Trust me! I know what I’m doing. “What me worry?”
