Mitch the Kill Switch

By David Glenn Cox

Let us have a moment of reflection for the departure of Mitch McConnell. A Republican leader cut from the old cloth. The O.G. Leader of the pack. The guy fighting for his side and using his big words in complete sentences to express twisted but cogent thoughts. Don’t look now, but the monkeys are trying to take over the zoo.

The Republicans pushed Kevin McCarthy from his perch just to see him fall without considering who would replace him. Plan Zero! They even became so unhinged as to consider Jimmy Jordan as a candidate for Speaker of the House. But as the laughter in the room died off this impetus faded, and the Party moved on to more viable candidates. And not to beat a dead elephant, but the plan is “no plan.” And Mitch McConnell is from the old school.

Then Ronna McDaniel had to go. Because Trump said so, that’s why. Trump quickly installed his Daughter in-law in his schemes as leader of the Republican Party. Uniquely qualified by virtue of her proven skills at breathing, doing what she’s told and having the same last name as the former President.

But they had this barn burner of a budget meeting over at the White House. Just Joe, Mitch and the Reverend Mike Johnson. And it kept ending up two against one with the Reverend on the short end of the stick. Two days later, Mitch McConnell announces, he doesn’t need this shit anymore. He will hang onto his seat to the end, but he’s had it with the reins of power bullshit. Mitch is too old to try and run a daycare center. Score one point for the monkeys.

For the Republican House this session has been one for the books. Breaking the long stand records of Republican Congress’s incapable of accomplishing a damn thing. Starting with supporting George Santos (All we are saying is give crime a chance!) oh, he’s fine. Let it work itself out through the court. How about Donald Trump? “Oh, we should let the voters decide that!” Normalizing or Nixonizing crime into everyday Republican politics.

Day by day the Trumpified house went after Trump’s enemies and did as they were told. But stymied again and again by a Senate leader taking sides against his own crazy party! Mitch became the kill switch grounding bad Republican ideas publicly. But do you know what? If you crazy bastards make Trump the Party nominee again! I’m fucking outta here! You can have this shit! Talk to the hand!

Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger and Mitt Romney, Kevin McCarthy, Ronna McDaniel and now Mitch the kill switch. A complete Republican leadership change, installed instigated and integrated by Donald Trump metaphorically murdering the old guard Republicans. The old and young and or anyone, contrary to the desires of Donald Trump.

Mitch sees the calamity coming in November with Trump in control of the Republican Party. (Oak tree you’re in my way) Trump has been known to loot failing Trump enterprises. Political Parties are no exception, so for Mitch, now is a good time to board the lifeboat and start rowing away. Mitch knows the end is near and he can’t stop it.

Trump plus control of the Republican Party equals NO MONEY!

Trump attorneys in his New York business fraud case plead Trump shouldn’t have to put up the whole four hundred plus millions to appeal. Instead, they offer one hundred million. Plus, a Mickey Mantle autographed Rookie card (In good condition) and some rare Marvel Comics and a George Foreman grill.

To the awake it should be obvious. How much money does Donald Trump have in liquid cash? Not four hundred million!

The problem is that once you start selling because you have to sell, you’ll never get what it’s worth. Now with Trump’s inflated ego and prices it would appear catastrophic. Don’t look in the mirror Tommy! We’ve all played enough Monopoly to know what it means when you have to sell. All the deeds flipped over, and the money’s all gone.

A party already in financial trouble because of the obvious, Trump in charge. For every dollar you give at least twenty-five cents will go to support the reelect Donald Trump campaign.  The penny stinkers still like Donald Trump. They still love Donald Trump but to those who make those big donations see the Trump campaign as money down a rat hole. Trump can’t sell enough sneakers to save the day.

The big money doesn’t think Donald Trump can win. The big money knows Trump is over the edge and can’t be trusted or counted on. Trump’s revenge tour frightens big business. Revenge is bad for big business.

Who will replace Mitch? Will they continue to act as the cork in the Republican crazy bottle? “I know! Let’s threaten to shut down the government, until Joe Biden does what we want! I know! Let’s get rid of Kevin McCarthy!  “I know! Let’s threaten to shut down the government again, until Joe Biden does what we want! Do you know what we should do? Let’s threaten to shut down the government, until Joe Biden does what we want! Let’s investigate Hunter Biden! Let’s impeach the President! I know! Let’s threaten to shut down the government again, until Joe Biden does what we want!

Titanic forces are arrayed against the Republicans first among them is Donald Trump. Trump needs money and the Republican Party has it. Any questions?
